Sam Smith ’19

(Sam Smith ’19 plays on the water polo team.)

“Some of my friends that played the sport previously encouraged me to play. I’ve also played a water sport before so I had experience being in the water, and I thought it’d be really fun to play a sport that includes something that I’ve done previously and with team dynamics. The most difficult part is that you don’t know who you’re going to be paired up with, and how aggressive they are. Also, you have to pay attention to everything that’s around you, like where the ball is and when you need to be on defense. I enjoy being able to interact with other people and work together on a team with all the players. Now that I’ve played a team sport, whenever I go to a basketball game, I can understand passing more and how that works. And watching other sports games has influenced me to see that this is how they’re interacting and it gives me knowledge and helps me improve on myself.”
