Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse Suffers Defeat by Cedar Park

The varsity boys’ lacrosse team fell to the Cedar Park Timberwolves with a score of 6-16 on Wednesday, April 12.
Although the Warriors fought hard, the outcome was not what the team had hoped for. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 1-6 as a result of a goal scored by Steve Szostak ‘17 and a few slips from the defense. After another goal from Szostak and a goal from Reese Green ‘18, the score was 3-9 by halftime.
“I think that on my one-on-ones, I dropped the ball a lot shouldn’t have done that. I should’ve kept my head up, and given the ball to other players who were open,” Szostak said. “When I did look up and play smarter, plays happened, and I ended up with two assists to Alex, an easy one from “X”, and then Miles during the man-up.”
At the start of the third quarter, Alex Von Waaden ‘17 and Green scored goals to bring the score to 5-12.
“The game went well, we didn’t get the outcome we wanted but we still stuck with it until the end and our sticks were where we wanted them,” Von Waaden said. “We moved the ball well, solid defense, always had a slide, but we could definitely work on finishing; capitalizing where we found a weakness in the defense.”
The fourth quarter ended with a score of 6-16 with the final goal scored by Miles Simpkins ‘18.
“It could’ve gone much better; we have a pretty young team this year so we have a lot of things to improve on and a lot of young people getting a lot of playing time which speaks well for the future,” Green said. “For now, all we can do is focus on the positive and keeping moving forward trying to make our team better.”
The Warriors will face the Regents Knights on Friday, April 21 for their Senior Night game.
