Even though the Warriors (1-3) played hard all night long, they were defeated 29 to 7 by the Hendrickson Hawks (3-1) in their first game of district play on September 19.

The first quarter was uneventful. The Warriors’ defense was able to keep the Hawks from advancing deeper into their territory, shutting down many attempts to score a touchdown, but the Warrior offense caused many turnovers on 4th-down situations.

Everything changed in the second quarter. The Hawks were able to score two touchdowns early in the second quarter, bringing the score to 15-0 at the half. Despite having the ball for the majority of the second quarter, the Warriors were unable to capitalise on this opportunity and lost possession on 4th down turnovers.

After the half, which featured the first two parts of the Warrior Band’s show called Fore, it was more of the same. The Warriors’ defense was able to keep the Hawks from scoring during the third quarter, but were unsuccessful in scoring themselves, despite getting within twenty yards of the Hawks’ end zone several times.

However, in the fourth quarter, the tables turned. The Warriors were able to score a touchdown with a 21 yard pass to quarterback Ian Lee ’16, and a field goal by kicker Josh Burton ’16. The Hawks quickly responded to this with two more touchdowns at close to the end of the fourth quarter, bringing the final score to 29-7.

The Warriors will play Rouse High School at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex next Friday, September 25.
