After receiving applications and sending out acceptances, the National Spanish Honor Society (NSHS) inducted its newest members on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Once the inductees had filled the risers, Sra. Llanos-Gremillion and NSHS officers presented a oath in Spanish in which the inductees would repeat. Afterwards, officers lit inductees’ candles and presented the certificates. When the members returned, they repeated a poem and blew out their candles, officially becoming part of NSHS.

“I think it’s important to join the society because it goes beyond a normal Spanish class,” Grace Castelino ‘20 said. “Spanish classes changes every year, but this group of people will be together until senior year so it’s more permanent.”

To conclude the ceremony, the 71 new members celebrated their achievement into the society by eating food and getting to know the other inductees. Students interested in joining NSHS may fill out an application next year.
