Freshmen Tennis Team Takes the Lead

Spring_2014_9th_Georgetown_TournamentThe Westwood Freshmen Tennis  team competed at the Georgetown Tennis Freshmen Tournament on January 21. The boys team won 1st place in all divisions and every girl athlete medaled in their divisions. The JV team also traveled to the Georgetown tournament on January 23.

The following are the results from the tournament.

Boys Team

  • 1st Place A Boy Singles: Arjun Devireddy
  • 2nd Place A Boy Singles: Jameson Tankersley
  • 1st Place B Boy Singles: Michael Han
  • 1st Place A Boy Doubles: Jake Stern & Yaswin Veuguleti
  • 1st Place B Boy Doubles: Ahkil Gangidi & Varun Rachakonda
  • Semi-Finalist B Boy Doubles: Carson Manley & Saket Myneni

Girls Team

  • 1st Place A Girl Singles: Felcia Ju
  • 2nd Place A Girl Singles: Pia Cadar
  • Consolation Champ B Girl Singles: Ninthya Gillipelli
  • 2nd Place A Girl Doubles: Ashley D’Souza & Kimberley Park

With a powerful windup Rachana Akkineni ‘26 gets ready to hit a forehand during her singles match. The Warriors came into the game on a 5 game win streak and looked to extend that to six games.
Varsity Tennis Emerges Victorious Against Round Rock Dragons 18-1
Brian Lee 27 soars to return a high lob with a forehand. Lee won this rally for his team but lost the match with a score of 7-8.
JV Black Tennis Beats Lake Travis in Landslide 16-4 Victory
