The Westwood Health Occupational Students of America (HOSA) chapter competed at the Area Conference from January 31 to February 1 at J.B. Connally High School. In order for students to qualify for the state competition, they had to place in the top three places in their respective events. With more than 175 competitors and 30 participating schools, the Westwood HOSA chapter was able to qualify seven out of its 40+ students for the state competition located in Galveston.
“I’m glad that we have people going to state but I wish we had more people qualify. Although I’m fine that many HOSA members still qualified for the State Conference,” said junior Jay Cho.
The following students qualified for state in their event:
Health Education
1st place – Senior Sarah Dhukka, juniors Clisha D’Souza and Zoha Maknojia
Prepared Speaking
3rd place – Senior Sadaf Momin
Healthy Lifestyles
3rd place – Senior Ruhee Momin

2nd place – Junior Simran Makwana
