Despite playing hard all night long, thunderstorms, weather delays, and a field that was completely waterlogged, the Warriors were defeated by the Cedar Park Timberwolves 10 to 34.

The first quarter of the game was uneventful—aside from a 30-minute weather delay caused by nearby lightning storms. The Warriors were able to keep the Timberwolves from advancing into their territory, and thus, scoring any points.

Everything changed in the second quarter. With 7:30 left before the half, the Warriors were able to put three points on the board with a successful field goal by kicker Josh Burton ’16. Less than a minute later, the Timberwolves responded to this provocation with a touchdown, bringing the score to 3-7 at the half.

After the half, during which no bands played (Westwood’s band had left early in the first quarter when the weather delay was announced), the Timberwolves went right to work. Four minutes into the third quarter, they were able to score a touchdown, bringing the score to 3-13, followed by another touchdown two minutes later. The score was now 3-20.

With 23 seconds left in the third quarter, the Timberwolves were able to put yet another touchdown on the board, bringing the score to 3-27.

The fourth quarter was more of the same. With 3:17 left, the Timberwolves scored yet another touchdown and brought the score to 3-34.

However, this did not deter the Warriors. They were able to score a touchdown, with 2:49 left in the game, off of a 41-yard run by Mason Hernandez ’16 and an 11 yard quarterback run by Jack Swensen ’16. This brought the score to 10-34.

The Warriors will play Hendrickson High School next Friday, September 19, at the Hendrickson High School Stadium.
