Westwood’s Warriors (2-5) lost to the Stony Point Tigers (4-3) in their fourth district game on Oct 17.

The game started off at a fast pace, with the first of the Tigers’ touchdown happening after barely two minutes of play in the first quarter. Westwood’s defense blocked an extra point attempt, but the Tigers came back with another touchdown two minutes later, and a two-point conversion. This brought the score to 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

However, the Warriors’ offense made significant plays in the second quarter. Receiver Colton Kirkby ’15 scored a touchdown off of a 25-yard pass by Jack Swensen ’16, followed by a successful field goal by Josh Burton ’16. Despite numerous attempts by the defense to stop the Tigers, they were able to score three more touchdowns throughout the second quarter, bringing the score to 33-7 at the half.

After a spectacular performance by Westwood’s band, the game continued on as it had during the first half.

Not two minutes into the second half, the Tigers scored another touchdown. This was followed by yet another touchdown, shortly before the end of the third quarter; This brought the score to 47-7 at the end of the third.

In the fourth quarter, however, the Warriors scored a two yard touchdown off Prince Ugwu ’17, bringing the score to 47-14. Despite Westwood’s attempts to put more points on the board, the Tigers were determined to run down the clock to seal their victory.

The Warriors will play Pflugerville High School next Thursday, Oct 23, at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex.
