The Warriors’ boys soccer team dominated the first round of district play last week, defeating both Cedar Ridge and Hendrickson.
Last week, the Warriors finished the first round of district in resounding fashion, as they defeated Cedar Ridge 2:0. Goals were scored by Max Zhao off an Arturo Leal corner in the first half, and by Kris Vrudhula, as he stole the ball off a defenders’ poor touch. Jason Dolan was in goal for the shutout, and was aided by his defenders, Zhao, Tyler Tinker, Liam Matsumoto, Leal, Adam Homza and Jonathon Tolj.
On Friday, Feb 20, the Warriors played Hendrickson in a violent wind, and took advantage of the backwind in the first half to hit Hendricksons’ goal keeper with 8 shots on goal. Doug D’Lacoste broke through with pass from Wilson Salgado. Unfortunately, the Warriors were done in by a referee’s call, as the Hawks were awarded a penalty kick in the second half, which they converted.
Both subvarsity teams continue to scuffle, as they each lost both their games, but the total score was 5:0.
The Warriors will take the field again on Friday, Feb. 27 at McNeil, where they will compete for the coveted Palace Parrot Darby trophy.
