Boys’ Soccer Defeats Rouse 2-1

    Despite the cold and wet weather, Varsity soccer defeated Rouse by 2-1 on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

    In the first half, Kris Vrudhula ’15 scored with an assist by Braeden Lennon ’15. Vrudhula later assisted Marcos Bergami ’16 in scoring in the second half, leading to the 2-1 win.

    The JV B team lost to Rouse 1-2, despite an exceptional goal by Chris Martinez ’17. The JV A team tied 3-3, leading 3-1 with less than 5 minutes remaining, and gave away two goals, including the equalizer with about 15 second left. Nik Vrudhula ’17 scored once, and Luciano Marrella ’17 scored twice in the tie.

    Westwood will play McNeil for the coveted Parrot Trophy Monday, March 2 at 6pm at McNeil. After the game, Taco Cabana, located at 13376 Research Blvd, is holding a benefit night in support of Westwood Soccer. The booster club will receive a portion of the proceeds when mentioning Westwood Soccer to the server.

    Additionally, the Warriors will take on Stony Point at Westwood on Tuesday, March 3, and travel to Pflugerville on Friday, March 6, starting at 4:30 p.m. for the JV B team, followed by the JV A team at 6 p.m. and Varsity at 8 p.m.

    Braden Wilson ‘24 expertly dribbles the ball around Mustang defenders to bring the ball closer to the goal. Wilson was a key player in the game, especially in the first half.
    Varsity Boys Soccer Loses 2-1 to Manor on Senior Night
    Griffin Goss 26 makes a pass across the field. Goss used good footwork and long passes to get around the Mavericks and the ball down the line.
    JV Orange Soccer Beats McNeil in 3-1 Blowout
    Moving the ball up the field, Ishaan Saini ‘26 focuses intently on keeping possession of the ball. For most of the game, possession switched between the Warriors and the Mavericks, so Saini was intent on keeping the ball on offense.
    Varsity Boys Soccer Loses Unbeaten Streak to McNeil in 1-0 Defeat
    Lunging towards the ball, Audrey Savoie 26 wards off the Raiders player from maneuvering past the Lady Warriors defense. Throughout the game, there were multiple one on one battles which contributed to the overall win for Westwood.
