On Thursday night, the girls’ varsity soccer team took on the undefeated team Bowie in their first district playoff game. The game consisted of two goals from Westwood and a shutout against Bowie, leaving the score 2-0.
In the early first half Angela Yu ‘15 had an assist from the corner making it a perfect shot for Claudette Lassandro ‘15 who knocked it in, putting them up by one.
“I’m putting in everything because this is my last year playing for this team,” said Lassandro, who’s going to be playing for Texas A&M in the fall.
Students from all sports teams started filling the stands by the second half, cheering and showing support for the soccer players. After a minor head injury for one of the other team’s players, Nakia Graham ‘15 scored from inside the box, making the crowd roar.
“Both goals were really quite amazing, but it still wasn’t our best game,” Coach Malcolm Framjee said.
