Girls’ Lacrosse Moves Up to Division I

Last year, girls’ lacrosse won the district championship and made it all the way to state within Division II. Winning districts, however, moved the team up to Division I.

After varsity won first in districts last year, both JV and varsity were on a high of celebration. The feelings carried over into this year’s season until the coaches told them they had been moved up to play with D1 teams.

“I’m kind of mad,” varsity co-captain Kayla Shea ‘17 said. “But I feel like it will give us a more competitive feel to our sport and I feel like we will be able to do pretty good and maybe get to state again.”

In DII the team was almost undefeated with their number of wins, however D1 is much tougher and will force them to work harder.

“I think our coaching staff is going to be stricter,” Shea said. “It’s going to be a lot more fun, and have a lot more competition.”

JV and varsity are going to have to push themselves a lot harder than last year, but through teamwork they will be able to face the odds.
