As district play nears, the varsity boys’ soccer team continued to improve as they played against the Bowie Bulldogs on Tuesday, Jan. 23, losing by one measly point. With the kickoff at 7:45 p.m. at the Warrior Bowl, the game started off strong, and by the end of the first half, both teams had scored a goal, tying the score 1-1 by halftime.

“We had a lot of chances to win,” Oliver Harris ‘18. “There were a lot of times throughout the game where we were ahead of the other team. In the end we got really unlucky and we got scored on in the last eight seconds of the game, but overall we were on top of them and it’s a really good step in the right direction for us.”

The Warriors entered the second half with confidence, and made several shots on goal, but unfortunately none had it in during the second half of the game. However they persevered and used their skills to work as a well-running team until the last few seconds of the game.

“It’s obvious it’s tough that we lost,” Justin Lang ‘20 said. ”Especially the way we lost, but it’s promising because we can definitely see noticeable improvement.”

In the final ten seconds of the game, the boys walked away with a disappointing loss, as the Bulldogs scored leaving the score 1-2. In the end, it was a single goal that unfortunately won the game for the Bulldogs. However despite the devastating loss, the Warriors will continue to improve and learn on their last games.

Although the boys did not get the outcome they had hoped for, they still played hard and with confidence, and they hope to do better for their next game against the Marble Falls Mustangs on Friday, Jan. 26, at the Warrior Bowl.
