Securing a staggering 12-0 overall win against Houston’s Tomball Memorial Wildcats, the varsity tennis team added yet another victory to advance in the UIL Conference 6A Team Tennis playoffs on Monday, Oct. 14.

Getting straight to work, the Warriors took an incredible commanding lead of 7-0 after doubles matchplay. This margin would only serve as a catalyst for further success for the Warriors as they blasted into the second part of the afternoon with no trouble.

With this victory, the team secured another step towards running back the exceptional success found the previous year with the program’s very first State Title win. One of the most pivotal matches of the fall season will be the predicted Regional Semi-Final against state ranked #7, Plano West High School, on Thursday, Oct. 24.

“It’s going to be a battle for the ages.  They are one of if not the most successful tennis programs ever and they have an incredible team this year.  We are going to throw the kitchen sink at them and hope that works,” head coach Travis Dalrymple said.

Both teams boast powerful lineups among their top boys and girls, so some intense doubles matchplay will likely seal the deal.

“We need to be playing our best tennis right now and it’s going to be tough. We are getting closer and closer to our goal but we know the mountain is getting steeper and steeper,” Coach Dalrymple said.

The team will move on to Regional Quarterfinal matches on Monday, Oct. 21.
