The Westwood Warrior Marching Band participated in their annual eighth-grade night on Friday, Oct. 8, during the Westwood vs. Stony Point game at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex. The marching band played various songs, including Seven Nation Army and We Will Rock You during the football game.

The eighth-graders first arrived at Westwood during eighth block. They were met with the five drum majors who answered any questions they had about the program. Afterwards, each band member met with their assigned eighth-grade student, handed out personalized letters, and initiated conversations.

“Being able to see the eighth graders during [the] block was so exciting,” Katie Forshay ‘23 said. “It was so fun to see the look of amazement on their faces when they walked into the band hall. I’m super glad I got to help introduce them to what band is like at Westwood.”

The students then took the bus to the stadium, where they performed many familiar tunes. Three minutes before the end of halftime, the students all headed into the parking lot to line up with their instrument sections. After the Stony Point Marching Band performed, the Warriors walked up to the field and played Land of a Thousand Dances.

The Westwood varsity football team lost 41 to 17 against the Tigers. The Westwood Warrior Marching Band will play next Friday, Oct. 15, for the homecoming game.
