Seeking family, Giselle Kiefer ‘22 looks around the center while entering the floor. Graduates waited in line for a while to finally be seated.
The Class of 2022 had their graduation ceremony from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park on Tuesday, May 24.
The event began with speeches from graduates; Student Council Executive President Aria Hegde spoke first, followed by Senior Class President Chris Huh, Salutatorian Amogh Mahambare, Valedictorian Willow Stenglein, and Principal Mario Acosta. During an intermission between the lineup of speeches, the Westwood Orchestra and Choir performed Duel of the Fates by John Williams.
Students then were called to walk across the stage in alphabetical order to accept their diplomas and take a photo with Principal Acosta. After the students returned to their seats, Principal Acosta gave his final remarks to the 2022 class and the graduates tossed their caps in the air.
“It’s been a little stressful, but I’m happy that we’re finally at the end and I think it’s a lot of build up to a really good moment,” Ashlin Swasey ‘22 said. “I’m so excited to be graduating, I’m excited to be moving on to the next chapter of my life.”
