Horizon Named Crown Finalist

WestwoodHorizon.com was named as a Digital Crown Finalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) on Wednesday. A total of 20 digital high school publications received the award for their work from a total of over 800 eligible for judging. The publications will be presented in March 2023 at ceremonies in New York City.

The Crown Awards honor top student publications from across the nation chosen from CSPA’s members. Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage, and writing. Crown Finalist winners will be announced as either Gold Crowns or Silver Crowns at the CSPA ceremonies next spring.

“It’s so cool,” Photo Editor Arushi Sharma ’23 said.  “It’s a really high award.  To go to New York to pick up the award would be an amazing opportunity that not many people get the chance to do. Having that to close off senior year would just be awesome.”

This is the fourth time  The Horizon has received the Crown Finalist award. In March 2022, the publication earned its first Gold Crown at the CSPA Spring Scholastic Convention.
