Annika Anand '24, Sritanvee Alluri '24, and Anannya Sathaye '24 write letters to their future selves at Senior Sunrise. At the event, students hung out with friends while watching the sunrise, eating snacks, and writing their letters. "I liked the idea that you write little letters for yourself and then you get it back at the end of the year," Sritanvee Alluri '24 said.
On Friday, Sept. 1, seniors gathered on the grass field by the tennis courts before dawn for Senior Sunrise, hosted by Student Council. As the sun rose, seniors wrote letters to their future selves to be opened later in Spring, at senior sunset.
“I really like the fact that to comprise the whole year, you start off with a sunrise and then a [sunset], which is really cute,” Sritanvee Alluri ‘24. “I think senior sunrise is like your last start [of a school year] so it feels like everything is new yet old at the same time.”
Students spread out their blankets on the field to sit on as they watched the sunrise and wrote their letters. Student Council provided paper to write letters and snacks for the seniors.
“It was just such a lovely and perfect morning just hanging out with our friends, eating snacks, and watching the sunrise that I almost forgot that we had school,” Ella Mills ‘24 said.
