Trail of Lights Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Trail of Lights Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Starting Dec. 7, a time-honored Austin tradition has its 50th anniversary. The Austin Trail of Lights began in 1965 as a single display of lights, and has grown into a 5 kilometer run in Zilker park. Running for 14 days in Dec., the light show is open weekdays and weekends. The price is $3 for people above the age of 12 on weekends, but admission is free for those younger. Plus, entrance is free for any attendees that come during the week. The 1.25 mile light show serves food, entertainment, and joy for all ages. The Trail closes on Dec. 21, so buy your tickets now! For more information, go to their website here. You can also find the Trail of Lights on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest.

About the Contributor
Simone Heim, News Editor
Hi, my name is Simone Heim. I work for the Westwood Horizon online news as the Head News Editor. This is my third year in Student Press, as well as my fourth year in the journalism program. I also participate in the Westwood theater program as an actor and occasionally with tech. Outside of school I work as an assistant coach at a parkour gym teaching fight choreography, and over the summer I’m a counselor at a few summer camps. Some of my pastimes include obsessively listening to musical soundtracks, telling my friends to ‘fight me’, crying over television shows, and drinking hot cocoa.
