The varsity boys’ lacrosse team took on the Austin High Maroons on Wednesday, Feb. 28, on Warrior turf. Although the Warriors fought hard, they ended the first half with a score of 1-11, with Connor Cooper ‘20 scoring the only Warrior goal of the half. Jack Mattson ‘18 got checked in the head, but bounced back up and kept fighting. In the third quarter Miles Simpkins ‘18 scored the Warriors’ second goal, increasing team morale.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Ben Jensen ‘19 and Mattson won two face-offs in a row, and halfway through the fourth quarter, Brandon Lutz ‘19 intercepted a pass, causing a turnover. Throughout the fourth quarter, the Warriors’ attack pushed hard and Simpkins, Jensen, Cooper, and Reese Green ‘18 shot on goal, but came up short. The last Warrior goal was scored by Brice Griffin ‘20 after a pass from Simpkins caused by a turnover by Braden Ross ‘18. The clock ran out, and the game ended with a score of 3-19.
