JV White Baseball Falls to Raiders 8-3

On the night of April 17, the JV white baseball team took on the Cedar Ridge Raiders in their final home game of the season. The game was full of good competition, but ultimately the Warriors lost 8-3.
In the first inning, both teams were able to score one run. Neither team was able to score again until the fourth inning where the Raiders scored three runs. However, the Warriors gained a momentum when it was there turn at bat. Off a Raider’s pitch, Josh Astacio ‘21 hit a home run and brought the score to 4-2. Following Astacio, Jacob Geist ‘21 was also able to make it home after a strong hit and a Raider error. The fourth inning ended with the Warriors down by one, 4-3. The Warriors were eager as their score came close to the Raiders, but in the fifth inning the Raiders scored four more runs off of deep hits to left and mid field. Unable to match the Raiders’ runs in the bottom of the inning, the Warriors lost 8-3.
“I think we have come a long way. We have been one step behind all year, but we persevere and if the players keep believing in themselves and the process I think it will happen for them,” coach Brian Goodman said. “I’m never happy about a loss, but I’m happy in the way we committed and fought in this game.”
The Warriors will take on the Raiders again on Friday, April 20 at Cedar Ridge High School starting at 5:30 p.m..
