Varsity Girls’ Soccer Finishes Scoreless in First Home Game

In their first home game of the season, the varsity girls’ soccer team held the Vista Ridge Rangers to a scoreless draw with a final score of 0-0. Despite two missed penalty kicks in the first half, the Warriors continued pressing forward. Autumn Koch ‘19 and Madison Larrea ‘19 put pressure on the Rangers’ backline through several close attempts at goal. The Warriors’ own defense was held down by goalkeeper Maddie Broadbent ‘21, who had over twenty saves to keep a clean sheet. The close game also featured several new players on the team making their debut at the Warrior Bowl.
“My first home game was really exciting because the crowd was screaming and going crazy, but it was also a little intimidating because we had the added pressure to perform well,” Andi Peña ‘22 said. “It’s times like these that our dedication to the team truly shows, and we can only improve from here — [specifically] on our energy on the field.”
The Warriors will look to continue their unbeaten district streak in their next game against the Dragons at Round Rock High School at 7:15 p.m.
