Baseball kicked off their season Wednesday, Jan. 30 in the cafeteria with their pre-season which helped baseball parents register their sons for the upcoming season and learn about policies and practices within the program. Led by the booster club, the event sold shirts and hats for parents, along with the team’s required game-day shirts.

“We want 100% support because our boys deserve it,” Booster Club President Misty Potter said. “We want people, especially parents, to come out, support the boys, and be on the field as much as they are. We really want to build team spirit.”

After parents were given the opportunity to start filling out paperwork, head baseball coach Casey Carter led a presentation outlining new UIL policy changes, including a new rule allowing coaches to work with their players during the off-season. He then detailed the schedule for the rest of the year.

“I’m looking forward to watching the kids grow. We’ve got a great group of kids that are excited about the season and just love baseball,” Coach Carter said. “When you have a combination of that it’s always exciting to watch them grow on the field and be successful.”

The varsity team will play Liberty Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Westwood.
