With the flash of digital cameras lighting up a darkening pink and orange sky, the Class of 2025 came together at the Warrior Bowl for the annual Senior Sunset on Friday, May 9, hosted by Student Council (StuCo), for one last evening of bonding before graduation.
“It’s a really symbolic event for the seniors as they’re heading off on their separate paths,” StuCo Executive President Rheya Kurian ‘26 said. “Since it’s the last week for [them], it’s an opportunity to have a big-scale event where they can relax and just enjoy look[ing] back on all their memories.”
In September, as the Class of 2025 began their senior year, StuCo organized a similar event called Senior Sunrise, where seniors wrote letters to their future selves. These letters were kept for the school year and handed out at Senior Sunset as an opportunity for students to reflect on how far they have come and the goals they have achieved.
“My letter was a little silly, but I put in there that I hope I get into a good film school in California, and it came true,” Cheyenne Wang ‘25 said.
Along with enjoying the sunset and reflecting on the year, the Warrior Bowl was full of fun activities, including spikeball, axe throwing, cornhole, and a Kona Ice machine. Students were free to relax and enjoy each other’s company.
“It was a great time, with people running around having fun, playing spikeball, and kicking the soccer ball all over the place,” Santiago Sanchez ‘25 said. “It was full of energy, and the atmosphere and the sunset in the background was great.”
With the beautiful sky and fun atmosphere, the event was perfect for snapping group photos and soaking up the final moments of senior year. StuCo worked hard to plan the activities, ensuring the event would be memorable.
“This year, we also made a new TikTok idea where people sign a [sheet of] glass [in front of the camera], and it’s like they’re signing out for their high school experience,” Kurian said. “Just those little things are the things that really matter when [planning an event] so that people feel like ‘wow, this is my last high school experience,’ and I think it’s just a really great memory for everyone.
As the last ray of light dipped below the horizon, seniors gathered together, signing yearbooks and enjoying their last memories with each other.
“My favorite part was seeing everyone here, getting to sign everyone’s yearbook, and taking pictures with everyone,” Rifah Mirza ‘25 said. “I’m really glad I got to see everyone for a final time.”
