On Oct. 25, the Warrior band traveled to San Antonio to perform in the 6A Area D UIL Marching competition.
Thirty-four bands competed, with one for every five advancing to the state competition after the top ten competed in finals. The Warrior band performed their 2014 show entitled “Fore!” depicting a game of golf.
After placing ninth in preliminaries, the Warriors had high hopes to improve enough to place at least sixth in finals to advance. Shortly after midnight, the results were announced with Westwood placed sixth.
“They announced Westwood last in line, and the entirety of our band, seated behind us, erupted into screams,” color-guard officer Sarah Crawley ’16 said. “I’ll never forget the amount of tears, hugs, and bonding we all shared together as a team until 3 a.m.”
The Warrior band will perform in state UIL on Nov. 4 at 5:45 p.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonioni for the first time in Westwood’s thirty-four years of band.
