IN SEASON
Amassing over 75 million views yearly, the National Basketball League (NBA) finals is one of America’s highest-viewing sporting events. Aside from the athletic aspect of the tournament, the competition not only highlights cultural diversity and differences, but also unity. The finals concluded with the New York Knicks bringing home an NBA championship ring.
Looking on, Justice Moore '26 stands at second base. Justice's time as baseball team captain was exemplified by his constant drive for success and dedication to teammates.
Hugging a teammate, Charles Walker '27 celebrates a goal. As team captain, Charles made it a goal to encourage his team and always push them to be their best.
Throughout the year, Game Day Leaders constantly remind their teammates to put out their best self so they can be role models to other teammates who need it. As their skills were fostered, the cheerleaders stayed true to their individual goals and ambitions even then stress was at its highest during UIL season. "I'm really proud of everyone's individual desire to grow their skills which also translates to the team's growth and overall improvement," Lauren Patterson '26 said.

All smiles, the seniors on the Varsity Girl's Lacrosse get together for a photo. Surrounded by family, the girls were excited for their last game.
Eyes focused on the goal, Bonnie Rose Hance '29 narrowly avoids Westlake's aggressive attack. Despite their aggressive manner, Hance evaded being provoked in order to not get a foul. "I made a bet with my coach to see if I couldn't foul, and I won," Hance said.
Launching her stick upwards, Ana Jovanovic '27 battles with a Westlake Chaparral for the ball following the draw. Due to the Chaparrals' intense offensive abilities, Jovanovic had to adapt to certain draw cues for the best chance of winning the first possession.
Moving down the field, Bonnie Rose Hance '29 cradles the ball, defenders behind her. As the only freshman on the Varsity team, Hance was able to use the season opener to sharpen her lacrosse skills for the season ahead.
SOCCER

Cheering loudly, the Girls' varsity soccer team chants loudly in their routine pregame circle. The Warrior's game against Vista Ridge was also "Senior Night", an event where teammates and families in the stands took time to commemorate the Seniors on the team. “Overall we had amazing passing during this game, we had the majority of possession no doubt, and senior night was incredible,” Savoie said. “I couldn't have asked for anything better, 16 people came to support me (parents, sister, grandparents, boyfriend, family friends, and friends), we won 3-0 and overall it meant so much.”
Surrounded by Viper players, Samuel Givens ‘27 tries to escape while maintaining Warrior possession. He helped significantly in moving the ball forward throughout the game.
Sweeping the ball into the air and to a peripheral teammate, Jack Cox '26 swings his leg. To create speedy movement on the field, the Warriors employed a mix of long drives and bold passes to each another.
BASEBALL & SOFTBALL

Preparing to swing, Antonio Martinez '26 looks the pitcher in the eye. Martinez's batting capabilities were part of a team effort that resulted in the 14-0 blowout. "I feel that I hit very well. I went 2 for 3 of the plates, so it was a good day," Martinez said.
Powering through a fastball, Ardavan Jahangiri '28 swings with all his might. Jahangiri ultimately didn't achieve much success as a batter, but was part of crucial plays in the infield. “[We’ve] improved astronomically, it’s absurd,” Jahangiri said. “[Our] technique is on point, we know where the ball is going, we’re not being reactive, we’re being active.”
TRACK

Throughout high school, Violet Hewett '25 has competed for Westwood's swim and track team, as well as doing club track. Through hard work, dedication, and support from her coaches, Hewett will continue her track journey at Duke University under a track scholarship.
Taking off swiftly, the varsity boys cross country team leaves the starting line ready for the 3-mile trek ahead. The Boys had a successful first and second meet and looked to continue with a third.
Storming through the course, the Westwood cross country team competes in their first meet of the season at Vista Ridge. The Warriors looked to start off their season strong with a good performance all around.
