The JV white football team played an intense game against the Rouse Raiders at the Warrior Bowl on Sept. 24. The game, with many instances when it seemed like either team could take the win, ended with a Raiders victory of 15-26.

“It was a back and forth game,” parent of Hayden Barrow said. “Once we calmed down we came together and played well, just came out short and ran out of time.”

The Raiders started out the game strong, scoring two touchdowns in the first half. In the last few minutes of the second half, Glen Holder ‘17 scored the first touchdown for the Warriors.

“I was tired but it felt great to get in the end zone,” Holder said.

At halftime, the score sat at 8-14 with Rouse in the lead, but there was still plenty of time left in the game for the Warriors to pull ahead.

In the start of the second half, both teams played hard. No touchdowns were scored in the third quarter for either team. Each team attempted to pull ahead and put all their effort out on the field.  After about three minutes of the fourth quarter, Rouse managed to score another touchdown.

For a majority of the game, the Raiders were in the lead, but with seven minutes left on the clock in the last quarter, the Warriors scored a touchdown, making the score close at 15-20. Each team battled to score another touchdown in the final minutes of the game, each hoping to take the win. However, with three minutes and twenty six seconds left the Raiders managed to score another touchdown, putting the Warriors further from a win. While the Warriors played well, especially in the second half of the game, it ended with a loss. Nevertheless, it was a thrilling game to watch. The stands were filled with parents and supporters cheering both teams on.

Despite the loss, the players enjoyed the game as well.

“I really enjoy being on the football team,” Nolan Wilson ‘18 said. “We are all like brothers and it’s a great growing experience.”
