On Tuesday, Oct. 6, all of the choir students gathered at Hope Presbyterian Church to show off their talents. Each choir class sang two songs, and then sang one final song together to close the show. The Fall Concert helped showcase each choir and helped exhibit what they accomplished during the first six weeks of the year.
The Women’s Treble Choir opened the show. They sang two songs, “Shenandoah” and “Hey Ho, Nobody’s Home.” The Women’s Treble Choir is open to all first-year choir members and helps them get used to how the choir program works. Next up was the Men’s Choir. Their two songs were called, “Sansa Kroma” and “Lil’ Liza Jane.” The Men’s Choir is open to all men looking to join choir.
“The choir concert was a great experience because our choir sounded its best at the performance after all the practice we had done,” Pooja Enagala ‘19 said. “Also, it was a jaw dropping experience to listen to the chamber choir and older choirs because they sounded so amazing.”
After the Men’s Choir, the Concert Choir went next. They sang two songs called “Land of the Silver Birch” and “Ahrirang.” The Concert Choir is an all-women’s choir and is open to girls who have been in choir for at least a year. The Varsity Women’s Choir performed after the Concert Choir. They sang two songs called “Hello, Girls” and “The Lass of Aughrim.” Students have to audition to make Varsity Women’s Choir and must be in their second year in the choir program.
“I thought the concert was really fun and I think it’s great to get our choir community together to sing together.” Adra Kreiling ‘18 said.
Finally, the Chamber Choir was up. They sang “Barbara Allen” and “Skip to My Lou.” The Chamber Choir is a mixed choir with both men and women. Members are required to audition for Chamber Choir, as Chamber Choir is considered to be the best of the best in the choir program; every choir student wants to be in it.
“I thought it was a really fun way to see what the other choirs had been working on and a great way to express all of our hard work to our friends and family,” Martha Beaty ‘18 said.
As a finale, all of the choir students got on stage to sing “O’ Lord Bless You,” which they sing at every concert. The concert showed off all of the choirs and left the audience wanting more. The next concert is the Vertical Concert on Nov. 9.
