New Superhero Movie a Super-Flop

Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice, to say the very least, was a very complex movie. Like any other superhero movie, the plot ends with the two protagonists joining forces and destroying the ultimate evil. Unlike any other superhero movie, however, the two protagonists are actually rivals of one another and only choose to work with one another at the end when the world calls for the joint power of the two. This movie can appeal to you only if you are a specific type of people: one who enjoys confusing dialogue, a plot twist every 45 minutes, and a butt-load of ambiguous context. If you’re like me, and prefer clear interactions among the heroes and a plot that’s actually understandable, then you should probably spend your money on something else worth your time and money.

Key reasons why this movie doesn’t get to be the newest addition to my favorite superhero category are quite straightforward: the intolerable length and the confusion of the plot.

The length in general was actually pretty decent. Two and a half hours is a good amount of time to cover the entire plot and get on with the show, but when the plot moved ever so slowly and ever so confusingly, I felt my mind getting jumbled up with an influx of disordered information. Why did that explosion happen? Why is everyone so quiet? Did Joker really come back from the dead? Unclear plots lead to unbearable hours of sitting and constantly wondering what is taking place. By the time the movie ended (with a cliffhanger of course), the only thing that really managed to stick with me was that Superman and Batman coincidentally happened to have mothers with the same name.
