Warrior Pride Hosts Annual Showcase

Warrior Pride held their annual showcase in the small gym on Friday, April 15. It was an hour and a half long event, where Pride members were able to show off individual and group choreographies. Many of the dances were choreographed by the girls themselves, and the showcase allowed them to display their skills as well as their hard work. There were three performances in which all of Warrior Pride danced together: one at the beginning of the showcase, before the intermission, and the ending performance.

Pride members spent many hours throughout the year getting ready for the event.

“We met every morning and we practiced a lot, and I guess mentally as well,” Joy Yoon ‘16 said.

Preparation proved to be a tedious and difficult process.

“[The hardest part was] polishing, like trying to get the moves perfect; everyone doing the same thing,” Yoon said.

For some, however, it was harder to get up for morning practice than getting the moves right.

“Today, there was practice at 7:30 in the morning and I had to wake up at 6:30,” Andrea Yi ‘19 said, laughing.

At the end of the showcase, dance teachers Mrs. Angelique Scrudder, Mrs. Marla Valk, and student teachers were gifted a surprise bouquet of flowers as well as a group hug from all of Pride.

“My favorite part was at the very end when we all hugged Mrs. Scrudder,” Yi said. “It’s a sisterhood! We’re real family. I felt very loved.”
