The Lady Warriors triumphed against the Pflugerville Panthers on Friday, Sept. 9 with a score of 2-0. While time constraints allowed for only two sets, Westwood dominated in both.

Standing in a circle, with their arms wrapped around one another, the game commenced. With the Panthers serving first, Westwood received the first point. The first set finished in Westwood’s favor at 25-8.

“Overall, I think we have a really good team and we’re gonna do well this season,” Ingrid Stading ‘19 said. “We can talk a little bit more and sometimes be a little more aggressive.”

Running close on time, the second set would be the deciding factor. The Panthers received the first point due to a service error on Westwood’s part, but the Lady Warriors pushed through, winning the second set at 25-13.

“I thought we did pretty well,” Macy Prenger ‘19 said. “We didn’t play to our best potential but we still had a lot of kills and a lot of aces and good digs from our players so I’m pretty happy with it.”

With only two defeats this season, the JV Orange team prevailed once again.

“I think they did a good job at executing plays that they needed to and communicating and trying to play at the high level we always compete at so they did a good job at controlling that on our side,” Head JV Orange Coach Brissa Ochoa said.

The team is having much success in progressing towards a varsity level this season. According to Coach Ochoa, they competed in a varsity tournament over the weekend.

“It’s very exciting for them and what they are capable of,” Coach Ochoa said. “As long as they continue to communicate and they do the little things right, they’re gonna have success, but they need to work on the small things.”
