The JV Orange Boys’ soccer team faced off against the Vandegrift Vipers on Friday, Jan. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Warrior Bowl.

The Warriors did well keeping the Vipers from any opportunities to score and making the Vipers lose possession. However, the Vipers snatched the win with a score of 0-1. The score was stuck much through the first half, but the Warriors were able to have some success getting through the Viper defense.

“This game was filled with a lot of anticipation,” Felipe Centeno ‘19 said. “Throughout the game, I didn’t know if we would take the win or lose.”

The Warriors and the Vipers battled it out throughout the first half as each team was unable to make a score. There were great plays by Centeno and strong defense by Zach Siegel ‘19. Even though the Warriors were not able to make a goal in the first half, they did very well in lowering the chance of the Vipers getting a score.

“The first half was good, I think because we did a good job in defending our side of the field,” Siegel said. “I wish we could have done better, but we did good.”

The Warriors came back to the second half energized and were ready to face off against the Vipers once again. Two teams continued to struggle to break each other’s defenses, though the Vipers managed to sneak a goal in right before the game finished giving the Vipers the win.

“We tried our hardest till the end, and they were just lucky scoring the goal,” Tom Gentot ‘20 said.

The Warriors will face off against Bowie High School on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the Warrior Bowl.
