Five Things to Do in Austin During the Summer

Sometimes summer vacation can seem daunting if you don’t have any specific plans to travel or work. But if you ever get bored of spending your time at home, there are plenty of activities to do here in Austin!

  • Get ice cream, or any other cold treat.
    • It’s summer, and that means temperatures are going to be excruciatingly high. And what’s a better way to cool off than to enjoy some ice cream? But if you are tired of traditional ice cream, there are unique spins on the all-time favorite treat. For example, rolled ice cream is a trending dessert based on the Thai style of ice cream, and is quite literally what its name says – rolled up ice cream! In Austin, a popular destination for rolled ice cream is Holla! Mode. The line may be long, but for the quality of the ice cream, it’s certainly worth it.
  • Do an escape room!
    • Escape rooms are a fun team bonding experience that allows you to think in ways that you might not usually. They can be a little stressful sometimes, but it’s no doubt that you’ll enjoy your time trying to figure out the well-thought out puzzles escape rooms bring. There are plenty of escape rooms in Austin such as the Austin Panic Room and 15 Locks, so you’ll never run out of different immersive rooms with different themes to try.
  • Explore nature
    • If you don’t like spending time indoors all the time, that’s okay! There are different ways you can connect with nature. Whether it’s visiting botanical gardens, going hiking, or just taking a trip to the park, you’ll never be short of ways to venture into the outdoors!
  • Go shopping
    • Even if you don’t have a lot of money to spend, window shopping can always be fun! There are so many places to go for shopping, and plenty of ways to make it more interesting. For example, there are so many places where you can go vintage shopping such as Room Service Vintage that offers quality clothes and other items for affordable prices.
  • Visit museums
    • It doesn’t matter what you’re into, there’s probably a museum for it! If you like history, you can visit the Bullock Texas State History Museum, or if you’re more of an art fan, there are incredible exhibitions you can go to, such as at the Blanton Museum of Art.

Whatever it is you decide to spend your time doing this summer, enjoy the time you have! There are such a variety of activities available to do, so you shouldn’t be afraid to try new things, and remember to have fun!
