JV Orange Volleyball Takes Down the Hendrickson Hawks 2-0
On Sept. 14, the JV Orange volleyball team dominated the Hendrickson Hawks and rapidly finished the game 2-0. The Lady Warriors were consistent with their digs and defense, keeping the score close between the teams.
“The first set was really close to begin with and then we pulled away, and then the second set, they were actually ahead for quite a long time,” Coach Amber Hall said. “We were able to pull away and just take the game with us.”
The Hawks made the first serve of the night and Peyton Ferree ‘22 spiked the ball down into the Hawks territory to earn a point for the Warriors. Many other killer spikes were made by Sara Sagues ‘21 and Giselle Kiefer ‘22.The crowd from the stands screams and shouts as the Warriors earn more points.
“We play better when we are having fun, and personally when everyone is cheering, the game is a lot more fun,” Sagues said.
The score for the end of the first set was 25-11, and the Lady Warriors were not done yet. During the second set, the Warriors had a lead on the Hawks. Intense hits were made by McKayla Ross ‘22 and Ferree. The defense struggled to find their placement on the court.
“I think we could still improve on communication and defense,” Coach Hall emphasized. “The other team, especially in the first set, they were getting a lot of good kills on us where we should have been there, so just being discipline and being in the right spot and getting that defensive dig.”
Ending the second set, the final score was 25-20 and the Lady Warriors were more than happy and proud of their teammates.
“It doesn’t matter what happened that day during school, we should leave it all behind when we start playing, and lift ourselves up so we can lift others up too,” Sagues said.
