Varsity Girls’ Soccer Tie Leander Lions 0-0
On Tuesday, Feb. 5, the Lady Warriors took on the Leander Lions and ended the game with a score of 0-0. The game consisted of multiple shots, but unfortunately none of them made it in the back of the net.
Starting out the first half, Sarah Kolodzinski ‘22 attempted the first shot of the game. Shortly after, Deepti Choudhury ‘21 attempted a header to score a goal but did not succeed. Following the header, Kolodzinski was called offsides and the Lions took a free kick and had a close shot on goal. Lauren Kolodzinski ‘21 continued down the field with speed, attempted a shot, but missed.
“I thought the game went well. [They could’ve improved on] finishing, controlled the entire game, completed a ton of passes, created a ton of opportunities, a ton of goal scoring opportunities,” Coach Malcolm Framjee said.
With ending the first half 0-0, the Lady Warriors were ready to score a goal. Aislinn Concannon ‘22 attempted a penalty kick, due to a Warrior falling in the goal box, and missed. Colleen Wyrick ‘21 took a field kick and almost scored. Maddie Broadbent ‘21 saved multiple shots on goal from the Lion players. Further into the second half, a Lion player got a yellow card and Leah Zahm ‘20 took a free kick, with a close goal for the Warriors.
“The game overall was pretty good, but we didn’t score often and we need to work on some things too,” Concannon said.
Catch the Lady Warriors at their next game on Friday, Feb. 8 at Stony Point High School against the Tigers.
