Debaters Attend Greenhill and La Vernia Tournaments
It was a busy weekend for debaters as there were two tournaments attended by members of the team. Some debaters competed at La Vernia High School to earn points to qualify for the Texas Forensic Association state tournament this year. Others competed in the national debate circuit at the Greenhill School to earn eligibility to compete in the national Tournament of Champions. Being a national tournament, Greenhill had competitors from all over the country and was a very unique tournament for many debaters.
“You see a lot of the countries’ best debaters at that tournament,” LD Novice Coordinator Alice Zhang’ 20 said. “I think part of the reason why is because they have a Round Robin, a very prestigious Round Robin, right before the tournament in which they invite a lot of kids from outside of Texas to come compete, so we get a lot of kids from out of state.”
The results for both tournaments can be found below.
