Five Costume Ideas for the Lazy Trick-or-Treater

Are you a super lazy person looking for a costume that takes almost zero effort and hopefully no trips to the store? Well have no fear! Here are a few costume ideas you can make with everyday objects that exist in your home. They are so easy, you could literally slap them on five minutes before you leave the house.

Chef

This one is really easy. Just wear an apron. If you do not have an apron, wear an oven glove. As an extra prop, you could carry a pot around (bonus points if you collect your candy in it). You could also just carry the pot around if you don’t want to wear an apron or an oven glove. Use at least one of these things, and it should be pretty obvious that you are a chef.

Hermione Granger or Harry Potter

We all love the Harry Potter franchise, so dressing up as one of the characters should receive some favorable remarks from fellow fans. This costume may need some stuff from the store if you don’t have the necessary items. If you’re too lazy to go to the store, try one of the other options on this list. For this costume, you are in luck if you have a red scarf and a yellow scarf. Tie the ends of the scarf together. Then wrap them around each other to create the look of stripes. Once you are at the end of both scarves, tie both their ends together. This is now your Gryffindor scarf. Even easier, if you are a true fan and own a Gryffindor scarf, just wear that. For Harry Potter, take a red sharpie or pen and draw a lightning bolt on your forehead. While you are trick-or-treating, shout out random spells in the middle of the street.

Classic Witch

Just take a broom or mop and walk out of the house chanting random words.

Detective

This costume isn’t that much of a mystery to put together. Although a magnifying glass would definitely make it easier for people to tell what you are, you don’t need it. Wear a trench coat, a scarf, a hat, and a pair of boots, and you should be able to pass off as a detective. The hat and the trench coat are especially important if you don’t own a magnifying glass.

Just Wear Your Regular Clothes.

This is pretty counterintuitive, but if you’re feeling especially lazy, just go out in your regular clothes. If anyone asks, you are dressed up as the average high schooler (although everyone dresses up differently, but they don’t need to know that). To add to the effect, collect your candy in a pillowcase because pumpkin baskets are overrated.
