Five Athletes Compete at Regional Track Meet, One Advances to State

On Thursday, April 28, and Friday, April 29, five athletes competed at the regional track meet in five different events. The five athletes placed top four in the area meet the week prior and competed with other athletes for the top two spots to advance to the state meet.

The following are the results from the meet:

Triple Jump

Kenzie McElroy ‘24- sixth place

Violet Hewett ‘25- seventh place

Long Jump

Hewett- seventh place

4×100 Meter Relay– seventh place

Priya Gangadharan ‘23- first place

In addition to placing at the regional meet, three athletes also broke school records. The following athletes set new school records for their events:

800 Meter Dash

Gangadharan- with a time of 2:12.96

Triple Jump

McElroy- with a jump of 37 feet 7 inches

200 Meter Dash

Hewett- with a time of 24.41 seconds

Gangadharan will compete on Saturday, May 13, at the state meet at the Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium. More information regarding the state meet can be found here.
