Despite disturbing rain and chilly weather, the JV girls’ lacrosse team fought the Austin High Maroons on Wednesday, April 3 and finished the game strong with a score of 9-6. With weeks of preparation and dedication towards this victory, the Lady Warriors have now opened up the possibility of competing at playoffs.

“It was really awesome. We got to try a lot of new plays that we haven’t done before in real action, and they succeeded which is really awesome. We worked really well which is awesome for a team where most of us are new players,” Riya Shah ’20. “The overall season was pretty cool. Apparently if we win our next game we’ll go to playoffs, which I did not see coming because we only have twelve girls on the team on a good day. We had to forfeit some of the games, but it’s really awesome that we’re doing so well for having such a disadvantage.”

Throughout the game, the Lady Warriors set a precedent in both effort and tactics, pushing them towards success. Moreover, especially in moments of stress, the junior varsity girls held a strong offensive game, allowing them to secure their score advantage.
