In the past decade, notable changes have been made in the types of technology used in classrooms. From the mounted projector to iPads and document cameras, it’s safe to say that technology has evolved for the better.
In most classes, teachers extensively use Teacherweb and other sites to update their students on what is expected of them. There has also been a surge in the use of smartphones in the classroom both as a study tool and to complete assignments. The use of such technology makes things very convenient for students.
“I enjoy being able to take notes on a computer or study on my phone. It would be pretty much impossible for any of my classes to function without technology,” Sahana Koundinya ‘17 said.
The reaction to increased use of technology seems to be mostly positive and most teachers are pleased with the way classrooms have progressed. Their jobs seem to have been simplified by the various methods of student-teacher communication available outside of school now.
“I really like being able to videotape my lessons when I can’t make it to class. It makes it much easier to continue with the same lesson plans without having to make last minute changes,” Math Teacher Janie Ziebell said. “I also like to use my phone to take pictures of how to solve a problem and send it to my students if they’re having trouble.”
The use of technology in classrooms has had an incredible positive impact on the ease and effectiveness of education.
