On Wednesday, Feb. 25, all juniors in RRISD took the SAT, which was paid for by the district. The SAT at Westwood started at 9:30 a.m., and students were released around 2:30 p.m.
“I think it was awesome that the district paid for the SAT, because those things are expensive,” Valerie Peek ’16 said.
Around 400 students sat in the the Field House, and the rest of the juniors were spread out in a few classrooms. Some students didn’t have a positive experience with the gym situation.
“We got out quite a bit later than most other students,” Seema Iyengar ‘16 said. “There were too many students in the gym to get through all the breaks smoothly.”
However, Iyengar did feel that this SAT exam went well, aside from the overcrowding.
“I think this SAT was really good,” Peek said. “I think it went better than the PSAT.”
Because the juniors missed all of their Wednesday classes, they are all trying hard to catch up with their classmates. Teachers are cooperating with juniors to bring them back on track, so that they can take all their quizzes as soon as possible.
“My teachers made sure I got all the assignments,” Iyengar said. “Some of my teachers were proctors, so I really didn’t miss much.”
Juniors will now patiently wait until March 19 for their scores to be released.
“I’m anxious right now,” Peek said, “But honestly, I’m probably going to forget about it once we get closer to then.”
