Blue Dahlia, a European bistro style cafe located on 11th Street in East Austin, has become one of my favorite spots for brunch.
This past Sunday, my family and I dined there, and were pleasantly surprised with the rustic decor and the quaint, garden-like atmosphere. With no wait at all, we were shown to a table in the back patio of the restaurant – a lush countryside inspired place of relaxation. As an appetizer, we requested their charcuterie board, which came with jars of homemade jams and nutella to spread. For my entree, I ordered the “Daily Organic Egg Frittata with bread and mesclun greens and pesto,” from the breakfast menu, which was as dimensional and delicious as it sounds. Unfortunately, a slip in the service occurred when I ordered a Chai Tea Latte which was cooler to the taste than I would have liked. The friendly staff, however, were quick to heat it up at my request.
Overall, my experience at Blue Dahlia Bistro left me wanting to go back. With it’s charming Austin-y ambiance and unique, fresh food, it is the perfect place to stop and catch up with friends, or even to dine romantically on a night downtown.
