A new school year means a new girls’ lacrosse team. Old players graduated, new players came in, but one of the most major changes to the girls lacrosse lineup was their new head coach. Susan Killeavy is a Texas State lacrosse alumni and is in her last semester of college.
“I want to push these girls and finally get them to have a challenging year,” Coach Killeavy said. “They need to know what they can achieve through their hard work and hopefully have a better season than in the past years.”
Once hired, she decided some things needed to change in order to create a more competitive team for this upcoming year. In her first couple of weeks as head coach, she has already used her connections at Catz Physical Therapy, where she is interning, to secure the girls access to the turf field every Thursday. The girls are getting a head start on their training with the 3v3 tournaments that focus on their technique and endurance. Each mini-game is four minutes long, and the scrimmaging they do is similar to half court basketball.
