JV Orange Baseball Defeats Stony Point Tigers
On April 8, the JV orange baseball team defeated the Stony Point Tigers putting them at 7-0 in district. The final score of the game was 9-4.
“Westwood’s bats couldn’t be stopped early in the game, allowing for wiggle room,” Trevor Borses ‘18 said. “Despite some tense innings with errors Westwood managed to hang on to the game and seal the victory.”
Throughout this game, the Warriors were neck in neck with the Tigers. In the first inning, Marshall Dean ‘18 scored the first run of the game. By the end of the second inning, the Warriors were down by two, leaving the score at 1-2.
“We controlled most of the game and played with great chemistry as a team breaking away from stony point late and securing a victory,” Anthony Brocato ‘18 said.
The boys scored the majority of their runs in the third inning, scoring a total of six runs leaving the score at 7-2 by the end of the inning. The boys showed their fight in this inning giving them a four point lead.
“During the middle of the game we were pulling away but near the end they came back but we came out with the win with some great defense and teamwork,” Reid Carrier ‘18 said. “The best part of the game was using the binoculars and bat snipers when we were batting.”
Jake Morrow ‘18 and Dean scored the final runs of the game in the fifth inning. In the seventh inning, Morrow caught the last far ball from Stony Point to get the last out, ending the game with a score of 9-4, and giving the boys another district victory win.
