Arson Investigation Launched for 2013 Fertilizer Plant Explosion

On April 17, 2013, there was a devastating explosion in West, Texas. The town of West was ripped apart by a fertilizer plant explosion which destroyed five hundred homes, and took the lives of 15 people. The town has been in mourning, but a recent discovery has rocked the town once again. Two years after the explosion, investigators have discovered that the fire that caused the explosion was set intentionally.

The fire, which was set about 20 minutes before the actual explosion, was near the fertilizer plant and caused ammonium nitrate to ignite, and triggered the massive explosion that leveled the town of West. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is currently still investigating the explosion, but they are offering $50,000 to anyone who helps them find the perpetrator.

There are still no known suspects in the ongoing investigation, but the town of West is rebuilding and mourning the lost and damaged lives. Many families are still seeking closure, and with this new development, they might just get it.
