Choir Performs in Spring Concert
The Choir Department held their Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 17. They performed a range of pieces and afterwards, had an awards ceremony to recognize students who received the first division at UIL Solo and Ensemble, performed at TMEA, were awarded outstanding choir members, and to present various scholarships.
The songs choir performed varied from soft to upbeat but each one captured the audience’s full attention.
“My favorite piece was definitely
Sleep,” Osric Nagle ‘19 said. “It was just very melodic and the way all the [harmony] was happening there; it just made it almost like a surreal experience and it was just a great piece of art.”Preparation for the concert lasted only two and a half weeks, so rehearsals were frequent.
“[We had] an hour and a half of singing every orange day in the choir room with Coogle yelling at us,” Sanika Pelnekar ‘19 said, laughing. “In a good way, I’m not saying she’s mean.”
The concert ended successfully with rounds of applause that echoed throughout the church hall.
“They performed really, really well. Each choir, they just worked really hard. We put in a lot of effort and sometimes we spend about five to ten minutes in two to three measures so [we] really, really polish it,” Choir Head Director Ms. Bona Coogle said. “They performed really well and I’m proud of them and there’s never been a performance I wasn’t happy with.”
