On Tuesday June 14 Westwood faced off against Marble Falls, Lago Vista and Hutto High School in a 7 on 7 tournament. They started off the tournament playing Marble Falls and ended with playing Hutto. They won against Marble Falls and Lago Vista, but lost to Hutto.

“Overall I think our team played well,” Jaikem Murphy ’18 said. “The games that we play on Tuesday nights are really for the players that aren’t on our tournament team so they can see how the game is played, because they don’t get to play on the weekends with us. The best moment of the night was in our last game when we played against Hutto and both teams were getting hyped and everyone was having fun.”

Over the summer high schools play 7 on 7 as a way for the coaches to see the athleticism of their players. 7 on 7 is a game which can be an effective process to determining what assets a coach has to work with for the fall football season.

“Overall, I believe we played excellent, but there’s always that extra room for improvement,” Rashon Bates ’18 said. “The best moments of the game were the defensive stops that we made. The game went well on both sides of the ball and that in every player played to the best of their ability.”
