JV Orange Volleyball Defeats Raider in the First Two Sets
The JV Orange volleyball team showed the future players of Westwood how it’s done, in their 2-0 defeat of the Cedar Ridge Raiders during the Future Stars Night game on Tuesday, Oct. 11. With this in mind, the girls played their hearts out to demonstrate communication and hard work to these girls.
“We had good ball control and even when we got out of the system we played smart and kept the ball in play,” Cassie Jackson ‘18 said. “We seemed to have effective blocking and we covered our hitters well. Overall, hitting percentages were good.”
Starting off the first set were strong blocks from Abigail Rucker ‘20 and Audrey Quesnel ‘20 along with great serves from the team, which led them to win 25-15. Continuing with their momentum and consistency, the Warriors won the second set, ending the game 25-15.
“Our team has come very far as far as our defensive side of the game and when they play defense it makes for some long lasting plays which get everyone excited but also become the intense and overwhelming moments,” Coach Brissa Ochoa said. The long rallies throughout the game showed the team’s extensive hard work.
Come out and support the JV Orange volleyball team on Friday, Oct.14 as they take on the Stony Point Tigers at Stony Point High School.
