1. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

As everyone from our generation may know, the Grinch is a classic Christmas movie that has been in our hearts since the its release.This classic is about the Grinch, played by Jim Carrey, who decides to steal the biggest tree from the joyful town of Whoville. All his plans are soon ruined by the little girl Cindy Lou Who, played by Taylor Momsen, who tries to change the Grinch’s opinion of Christmas.

2. A Christmas Story

This 1983 movie is about a young boy named Ralphie Parker who dreams for an ideal christmas present: a Red Ryder Air Rifle. Though his parents, teacher, and a store owner all said that he would “shoot [his] eye out”, he still expected the rifle. On Christmas day, his dad directs Ralphie to the last present which turns out to be the rifle. He tries out the rifle by hitting a target, but the bullet ricochets and ends up shooting his glasses off his face; therefore, technically proving the store owner, his parents, and teacher correct.

3. Home Alone

Released in 1990, Home Alone is about 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, portrayed by Macaulay Culkin, who is accidently left behind by his family after acting up the day before the McCallister’s flight to Paris. He soon finds himself in the middle of a conspired theft by two thieves. During Kevin’s pursuit of getting rid of the thieves, he learns that he should not judge a person by how he may interact, or not interact with others, like the Old Man across the street.

4. Elf

This heartfelt movie is about Buddy the Elf, played by Will Ferrell, who was  accidentally taken to the North Pole when Santa visited Buddy’s former orphanage. Later in Buddy’s life, he learns that he is not actually an elf but is a human. Once he finds this out, he goes on a quest to find his dad in New York City, where he meets Jovie, portrayed by Zooey Deschanel, who he eventually falls in love with. Because of all the lost Christmas spirit, Santa’s sleigh stops working, but with the help of Jovie and Buddy’s Christmas spirit, his sleigh starts working again.

5. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

After a tragic incident at the Reindeer Games because of his nose, Rudolph runs away. At the same time, there’s an elf who also gets bullied, because he wants to be a dentist. Therefore, they run away from their kind and decide to be independent together; however they encounter a Snow Monster. After running away from the Snow Monster, Rudolph learns that Santa wants to cancel Christmas, so he goes back to the North Pole to prevent this from occurring.

6. The Polar Express

This Christmas classic is about how we should always believe, even if it is for the wildest reasons. The Polar Express is about a boy, Hero Boy, who is skeptical about the idea of Santa Claus. In the middle of the night on Christmas Day, he is picked up by a mysterious train which takes him and other children to the North Pole. When the main characters get off the train, they witness Santa Claus taking off, but before Santa leaves, one of his bells is retrieved by Hero Boy who initially can’t hear the ring of the bell, but once he believes, he does.

7. A Charlie Brown Christmas

As a part of The Peanuts installments, A Charlie Brown Christmas is about the true meaning of Christmas. Charlie Brown takes Lucy’s advice, a friend who provides psychiatric assistance for anyone who needs it, and directs a Christmas play. However, a problem erupts when Charlie is unable to calm all the actors down, so he sets out to find the perfect Christmas tree.
