Varsity Boys’ Basketball Conquers the RR Dragons 62-37
Conquering the Dragons by 25 points, the varsity boys’ basketball team (2-1) defeated the Round Rock Dragons 62-37. After a week’s worth of early morning practices, the boys’ hard work paid off with a first at-home district win on Friday, Jan. 13.
“It was great to win our first district home game,” Daniel Victor ‘18 said. “The crowd was energetic and felt nice to please the crowd with a dub.”
Out of the 62 points scored by the Warriors, the most points scored during this game was by Pete Uhlenhop ‘17, with a total of 13 points. For the entirety of this game, there were a total of 12 assists, three of which were scored by Josh Duff ‘17 and another three by Max Arends ‘17.
“To win our first at home district game felt amazing,” Lucas Madden ‘17 said. “[It’s] always fun to have all the parents and fans support while playing a great game.”
The Warriors started off the half strong, executing their drills as planned. For the first half of the game, the Warriors remained in the lead by 13 ending the half with a score of 31-18.
“Preparing we didn’t do anything different, just had fun focused on the game,” Madden said. “Overall this game was great, we shot well and just had fun with it. I hope we play many more like it. For anyone who reads this, I better see you at the next game.”
During the second half of the game the Warriors gained on the Dragons, almost doubling their 13-point lead to a 25-point lead, ending the game at 62-37.
“To prepare for the game, our JV learned one of their offensive plays to run against whenever Round Rock ran that play against us in the game because we already knew how to stop it,” Victor said. “The game went great. Our shooters had a great night and we also had a lot of rebounds. It was an overall successful night.”
